As you use internet and install new programs downloaded from the internet and accept file transfers, it is more likely that your PC will get spyware

infection. But then can you really do without them. If the answer is no then you must install an anti spyware program to protect yourself from the malicious activities of the spywares. The spyware detection feature of these anti spyware programs detect the spywares that are hidden within the freeware and shareware programs and protect your PC from spyware infection.

Spywares are created and spread to collect information about the internet browsing habits of the user of the infected computer. The record of the website visited by user is stored by the spyware and sent to the author of the spyware. They either use the data themselves or sell them to others and these data are used to carry out online advertising campaigns. This is a kind of targeted advertisements that eventually force the users to see the advertisements that pop up into their computer screen when they are online. Another fact that harms the performance of your computer is that the spywares use the resources like your PC memory space and internet bandwidth to collect, store and transfer the user data. An anti spyware program can detect and remove spywares from your PC and ensure your privacy and online safety.

Besides collecting internet usage data from your computer, spyware can cause much more harm to your personal security and privacy of the confidential data. There are spywares that are created and distributed by the hackers and crackers to gather sensitive information like bank account numbers, credit card numbers and passwords. The spyware steal these data by logging the keystrokes that you make while entering the information at the online forms. Therefore, even if you are doing your online transactions through a secured server, you can be at risk. As these data are used by the hackers for criminal activities like financial frauds, data manipulation and other criminal activities, your security is at stake with the anti spyware program.

There are so many spyware remover tools that you can download from the internet for free and stay protected from the spywares. The anti spyware program doubles up spyware blockers as well. They protect your computer from further attacks by detecting and eliminating the embedded spyware traces from new programs that you download from internet.

Spyware Remover Tools is an online resource, providing in-depth information about Anti Spyware program, which is an essential tool to keep your system free of dangerous spywares, protecting your privacy and your PC. Here you will get vast technical information on spyware removal.

Computer Attackers

July 28, 2007 on 6:39 am | In Virus, Security, Awareness, Worm, Information Security | No Comments

Computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without permission or knowledge of the user. The original may modify

the copies or the copies may modify themselves, as occurs in a metamorphic virus. It can spread from one computer to another by help of network connection or carrying it on a removable medium such as floppy disk, CD, DVD, USB drive or by the Internet. But viruses are not equal to computer worms and Trojan horses. A worm can spread itself to other computers without being transferred as a part of a host, and a Trojan horse is a file that appears harmless until executed.

Many PCs are now connected to the Internet and/or to local area networks. Today’s viruses may also take advantage of network services (World Wide Web, e-mail, file sharing systems). Some viruses are programmed to damage the computer by damaging programs, deleting files, or reformatting the hard disk. Others are harmless, but simply replicate themselves and make their presence known by presenting text, video, or audio messages. Although these viruses are not dangerous, they can create problems for the computer user. As a result they often cause erratic behavior and can result in system crashes. In addition, many viruses are bug-ridden, and these bugs may lead to system crashes and data loss.

In order to fully protect your PC and find an Internet security software program you can stand hosting on your OS, it’s important to consider the following:

• Pricing-Everyone wants to save money and when choosing an Internet security software program, it’s vital to choose a great product with an affordable price tag. Security Shield 2008, for example, will run you $39.99 after mailing in their rebate.

Free Spyware and Adware Prevention

July 12, 2007 on 6:09 pm | In Adware, Spyware, Prevention, Removal, Adware And Spyware | No Comments

To understand how one goes about preventing spyware and adware for free from entering your system and also spyware and adware removal, one must understand

where spyware and adware comes from. There are two main entry points for spyware and adware.

Click Here - Spyware and Adware Prevention
There’s more detailed information about spyware and adware prevention and removal, you can even try out some new free tools that will help you stay spyware free.

To summarize here though, the first point of entry for spyware and adware is free programs that people download from the internet from questionable sources. These programs almost always have spyware and adware, or worse, even trojans bundled with them. To avoid downloading spyware and adware, before you download anything from the web you must ask yourself a few simple questions. Do you trust this website? Do you really need this program? What’s in it for them to offer this free software? For example, suppose you want to download Mozilla. Do you trust www.mozilla.org? Yes. Do you need this program? Yes. What’s in it for them? Fame, glory, opposing the evil Microsoft monopoly. Could it contain spyware and adware? Unlikely. Now suppose you want to download a free screensaver program at some shady website. Do you trust the website? Questionable. Do you need this program? Not really if you think about it. What is in it for them? Theres no fame or glory, it’s not an open source project. Could it contain spyware and adware? Hmmm.. In most cases it comes down to money and by bundling spyware and adware in with their programs they can generate revenue to pay for the screensavers.

Other common programs that bundle spyware and adware include file sharing programs, browser toolbars, etc. All potentially can contain spyware and adware.

The second point of entry is through your browser. A lot sites out there try to get you to say yes to spyware and adware. When you go to a site and it asks you to install a program you’ve never heard of before in order to view the website, that is a major red flag for spyware and adware. Yes, it’s true that there are legitimate browser extensions that you should install when it asks you like Macromedia Flash, for example. But if you don’t think you need it, just click no. Some sites are a bit trickier though. They will keep on asking you over and over again until you say yes, and it’s difficult to avoid. Here is another top tip to get you out of that mess….
Click no and quickly press the Alt-F4 key combination to close your browser before it asks you again.

Search for spyware and adware removers on google or another reputable srearch engine and you should get good spyware and adware links. (tip)

Anti Spyware Software: Xoftspyse Review

July 11, 2007 on 4:51 pm | In Spyware, Antispyware, Software, Anti-spyware, Anti Spyware Software, Antispyware Software, Anti-spyware Software, Anti Spyware | No Comments

Installation and First Run

As expected, you don’t need to have an IQ over 200 to get this program running, and even if

you have a slower connection, downloading less than 3MB of data shouldn’t be too hard. Once you have the setup package on your hard drive, run it and the program will be installed in an instant.

When run for the first time, XsoftSpySE checks for updates and, if there are any available, starts downloading them. Of course that you can cancel this process and do it another time, but my advice is to keep all your security software up to date without any delays. The updates downloaded another 2MB of data, so after less than 10 minutes, I had this program ready to go. So let’s move on and talk about the interface, shall we? Click here for links

The Interface

Despite the fact that some programs from this category don’t work as they should, most of them look great. XsoftSpySE is not exception to the rule, although I am sure they can make it look even better with a little work. Anyway, there’s nothing that could give you a headache inside this program’s interface, all you have to do is pick a task from the menu to the left of the main window and do what you need.Scan Now

Features and Usage

After starting the program and updating it, the best thing to do is to scan your computer. As I expected, all I found was low threats, and to be more specific, I am talking about harmless cookies, so you don’t have to worry if you see a lot of items found, because usually it’s all cookies.

The General Settings area allows you to start the program with Windows, but since XsoftSpySE can’t protect you against incoming threats, the only serious reason to do that is for scanning the system each time you start it up.

The Scan Settings area can be used to customize the scanning process, so that only browser hijackers, active processes and the registry or various folders are scanned.

Some additional goodies include Scheduling and the ability to create Ignore lists and backups. No need to say more about them, because their names say it all.

During its use, I never had special reliability problems, and the scanning speed is good, so I guess it’s about time to draw the conclusions regarding XsoftSpySE, don’t you think?

The Good

This program is easy to use, fast and looks good, and its database contains over 200,000 threats at this time!

The Bad

Unfortunately, the free trial version can only seek and find spyware, but you’ll have to buy the full version to destroy it.

Conclusion

XsoftSpySE can be a pretty helpful application, even when using the feature limited trial version. After all, if you scan your computer with this and all you can find is cookies, you can relax and start saving some money for the day you’ll need to buy it…
